Overview
During my internship at BRIN I worked on refurbishing water quality monitoring devices. The job covered the whole device: finding out why it misbehaved, fixing the hardware, correcting the sensor readings, then improving the firmware and the screen that people read the data from.
Diagnosis, repair and recalibration
Worked through each device in the same order:
- Diagnosed the issues in each device.
- Recalibrated the sensors so their readings could be trusted again.
- Repaired or replaced faulty components where necessary.
Firmware
Rewrote the Arduino C++ firmware to improve the system's reliability and functionality.
Display interface
Redesigned the interface on the Nextion display so that real-time data is easier to read and the device is easier to use.
